Reflections, Images, and Videos for the Fifth Sunday in Lent

April 7, 2017

Apr. 2 1a

Jesuslazarus-01On April 2, the Fifth Sunday in Lent, we looked at the story of Lazarus in John’s Gospel, and remembered that in the deepest valleys, Our Lord weeps with us, and is the Resurrection and the Life. The 5 videos underneath the image pictured below all reflect these precious truths. We watched them before our 10 a.m. service to prepare for worship.

Here’s the Gospel reading we read at our 8:30 and 10 a.m. services.

Here’s this passage as depicted in the movie “The Gospel of John” and the miniseries “Jesus of Nazareth.”

Here are 3 sermons on this Gospel reading.

And here’s a solo version of the well-known hymn “I am the Bread of Life” (based on Jesus’ words in John 6 and 11), which we sang as a congregation at our 8:30 and 10 a.m. services.

In announcements’ time, we watched the following 2 videos about how we can share life with 2 Southern Albertan families as we’re moved by the love of Jesus to participate in Habitat for Humanity Interfaith Build Days.

The next Build Days are May 31 and June 3. We’re looking for 4 people from St. Paul’s to help (2 on May 31 and 2 on June 3). No experience is required. You can find out more information by clicking here. If you’d like to volunteer, please contact me at or 403-256-1428, or the Office at

After our 10 a.m. service, the following pieces of music continued the themes of the day, sending us forth in the Name of our Lord of love and life.
