Reflections, Images, and Videos for the Third Sunday of Advent

December 13, 2016

Embedded immediately below are the 4 videos we showed on our screens before our 10 a.m. Service on the Third Sunday of Advent, December 11, to help prepare us for worship. The Third Sunday of Advent is the Sunday of Joy. This theme features prominently in the first 2 pre-Service videos, and all 4 post-Service videos, that we played.

We began our 10 a.m. Service with the following video for Advent 3.

At our 8:30 and 10 a.m. Services, we joined Mary in pouring out our praise, as we said her Magnificat together.

mary-3My soul proclaims the greatness of the Lord,
my spirit rejoices in God my Saviour;
for he has looked with favour
on his lowly servant.
From this day all generations

will call me blessed:
the Almighty has done great things for me,
and holy is his name.
He has mercy on those who fear him
in every generation.
He has shown the strength of his arm,
he has scattered the proud in their conceit.
He has cast down the mighty
from their thrones,
and has lifted up the lowly.
He has filled the hungry with good things,
and the rich he has sent away empty.
He has come to the help of his servant Israel,
for he has remembered his promise of mercy,
the promise he made to our fathers,
to Abraham and his children for ever.

Glory to the Father, and to the Son,
and to the Holy Spirit:
as it was in the beginning, is now,
and will be for ever. Amen. (BAS, p. 86)

The following passage was our Gospel Reading at both Services.

In keeping with the theme for the Third Sunday of Advent, here’s a video with Fr. Mike Schmitz of Ascension Presents reflecting joyfully on what this Season can mean for each of us.

After the 10 a.m. Service, we went forth to the music on the following videos with joy in our hearts and a song of praise on our lips to our Emmanuel – God with us and for us for ever.

Thank you to Allison Pierce for adding your wonderful window painting to the Advent decorations in our Sanctuary for our December 11 Services!

Next Sunday, December 18, look for our Christmas Tree to be up, adorned with hand made white and gold Chrismons
