December 14, 2013

The wilderness and the dry land shall be glad,
the desert shall rejoice and blossom;
Like the crocus it shall blossom abundantly,
and rejoice with joy and singing.
(Isaiah 35:1-2a)

christmasadventjoyEveryone’s invited to tomorrow’s 8:30 and 10 a.m. Services for the Third Sunday of Advent. This is “Gaudete Sunday” – the Sunday of Joy. Our Advent Candle will be rose-coloured, to signify this lightening in the middle of the Advent Season from our joyful anticipation of Our Lord’s coming.  The theme of joy will run through all our readings and music. And we’ll join Mary in her “Magnificat”, proclaiming together the greatness of the Lord and rejoicing together in God our Saviour!

Chrismons_2011BWith Christmas Eve only nine days away, there’ll be animals in the stable in front of the Altar tomorrow. Our Christmas Tree will also be up and ready to be decorated with Chrismons (white and gold symbols of Our Lord) between our 8:30 and 10 a.m. Services.

It promises to be a truly joyful time! Please spread the word!

DECEMBER 19 UPDATE:

THANK YOU, St. Paul’s children and everyone who decorated our Chrismon Tree on Sunday! It looks awesome, as the photo embedded below shows. (The Chrismons on the tree come to the forefront when the lights in the Sanctuary are turned on; the white lights of the tree come to the fore when the Sanctuary lights are turned off, as they’ll be when we sing “Silent Night” together by candlelight on Christmas Eve.)
