You’re Invited to Join in a Fun Way to Make Our Sunday Celebrations More Colourful at St. Paul’s

October 15, 2013

You may have noticed our Choir looking colour-coordinated in recent months. They’ve been having some fun with a “Colour du Jour,” based on the flag of a country suggested by our Parish travel expert, John McIntyre.

Some non-Choir members have said that they’d like to participate in this enjoyable way to add colour to our Services, and celebrate our global diversity. So I’ll be including John’s messages about the upcoming “Colours du Jour” on my blog. You’ll also be able to find them on our Facebook page.

Here’s John’s message this week, which gives the colours for October 20 through November 3:

Hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving.

Here’s a short Thanksgiving quote I kind of like: “If you are really Thankful, what do you do?… You share.”   W.Clement Stone

Our upcoming Colours du Jour are:

– Sunday October 20th – We’ll stay in the Pacific region and look forward to little known Marshall Islands. October 21st is their independence day and they have a very unique flag with mid blue, orange, and white. Let’s try to slide some orange into our colours on October 20th – not many countries have orange in their flag. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Flag_of_the_Marshall_Islands

– Sunday October 27th – The Independence Day of Turkmenistan is spot on October 27th. The country gained its independence from the Soviet Union in 1991. The primary colours of their flag is green and red, plus a little white. Let’s go mostly with green and / or red on Sunday the 27th.

– Sunday November 3rd – It’s the independence day of the state of Panama. Their flag is red, blue, with a healthy dose of white and a couple of stars adourning it. A historical version is red and blue with some yellow, so for 11/03 go for some red and / or blue, with either some white or yellow.

Have a super week.   …John…

The first three images in this posting are of the Holi Festival of Colours in India. Although the powder in Holi does look like a lot of fun, we’ll be sticking to colourful clothes only!

Embedded below is the national anthem of this week’s country, Marshall Islands.
