We unite in prayer for all those whose lives are being affected by the flooding in Calgary and other parts of Southern Alberta. As the flood waters are reaching their peak, I invite us to share the following prayers as together we seek the face of our God:

Almighty and everlasting God, the comfort of the sad and the strength of those who suffer, hear the prayers of your people who are in any trouble. Grant to everyone in distress mercy, relief, and refreshment; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. (BAS, p. 682)

Come, O Spirit of God, and make within us your dwelling place and home. May our darkness be dispelled by your light, and our troubles calmed by your peace; may all evils be redeemed by your love, all pain transformed through the suffering of Christ, and all dying glorified by his risen life. Amen. (Night Prayer, p. 62)

Be our light in the darkness, O Lord, and in your great mercy defend us from all perils and dangers of this night; for the love of your only Son, our Saviour Jesus Christ. Amen. (Night Prayer, p. 64)

Be present, merciful God, and protect us through the silent hours of this night so that we who are wearied by the changes and chances of this fleeting world may rest in your eternal changelessness; through Jesus Christ our Lord. Amen. (Night Prayer, p. 64)
