You’re Invited to Share Services Tomorrow at St. Paul’s That Focus on “Giving Earth a Hand”

April 27, 2013

And I say to myself, “What a wonderful world!”

There’s an Earth Day theme at this Sunday’s Services at St. Paul’s. We’ll reflect on God’s call to “give earth a hand” by working hand in hand with one another.

Both our 8:30 and our 10:00 morning Services will have stirring videos on our big screen.

Both will have us use our hands to make a special “hand flower” garden, which will stand in our Sanctuary as a symbol of our committment to live out God’s call to be our brothers’ and sisters’ keepers, as stewards of creation; and both will give us the opportunity to seek God’s strength afresh to live this out with an Earth Day Litany (We didn’t want those at our 8:30 Service to miss out on sharing these!)

Triple C ServiceOur 10:00 worship is a Triple C Service. These Services, which usually occur on the fourth Sundays of the month like this, are Christ-centred, Creative, and Compact times together, in which we stretch ourselves and share worship in new and exciting ways. So there’ll be some other creative changes to our Order of Service at 10 a.m. as well.

As is the case at our “regular” 10 a.m. Services, Nursery and Sunday School are both taking place. After the Children’s Time in the Service, our young members, from preschool to the end of Grade Twelve, will be leaving the Sanctuary to spend time together. Our Elementary School aged children will be working on the hand flower craft, about how they can use their hands to help them in their prayers, and thinking especially about what they want to pray for the world.

Our teens will be meeting together with April MacDougall, working on the hand flower craft, discussing together our call to care for creation, and baking goodies for our post-Service refreshments. They plan to help serve these at our post-Service Coffee Time, and then top the day off by going to see a movie together at Canyon Meadows.

Everyone is invited to share in this most special day for the Earth! Please spread the word!

Both Services tomorrow will also have recorded and congregational music especially focussing on our celebrating and caring for the earth and all its inhabitants. Two of the latter are embedded below, which we’ll be singing at our 8:30 and 10 a.m. Services, respectively.
