We Unite in Prayer in the Aftermath of the Bombings in Boston

April 15, 2013

We unite in prayer in the aftermath of today’s bomb attacks at the Boston Marathon. We commit into Our Lord’s everlasting arms the three people who were killed, one of whom was an eight year old child. We pray for the bereaved and the wounded to be comforted as they are held close to God’s loving heart, and to ours. We pray for those who perpetrated this act of cowardice and hatred to be brought to repentance and justice. And we pray for peace to dwell within and be shared between everyone in the world, which the coming together of people from all over the globe for the Marathon represents so wonderfully. Amen.

The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness has never put it out.
(John 1:5)

APRIL 18 UPDATE: Embedded below are a video of today’s press conference by the FBI, in which they released photos and videos of the two suspects in the bombings, in the hope of speeding up their capture; plus a photo of the man called “suspect number 2” from The New York Times.

APRIL 19 UPDATE: Overnight, the suspects have been identified as brothers named Tamerlan and Dzhokhar A. Tsarnaev. The former has died, but the other is still at large. We commit into Our Lord’s eternal keeping Sean Collier, the MIT Campus Police Officer who was killed by the suspects, and (in obedience to Our Lord’s command) Tamerlan Tsarnaev, who made such terrible choices at the end of his earthly life; we pray for healing for the Officer who was wounded in the exchange of gunfire with the brothers; and we pray for the remaining suspect, Dzhokhar A. Tsarnaev, to be apprehended with no further injuries or loss of life.
