We Give Thanks for Our New Archbishop of Canterbury Designate

November 10, 2012

On November 9, Lambeth Palace announced that Justin Welby, 56, Bishop of Durham, will become the next Archbishop of Canterbury, succeeding Rowan Williams, who is retiring at the end of the year. Bishop Welby will be enthroned in Canterbury Cathedral on March 21, 2013. We give thanks for our new Archbishop Designate, and unite our voices with his first words as he began this ministry among us: “Come, Holy Spirit, to the hearts of your people, and kindle in them the fire of your love. Amen.”

Embedded below are links to three articles about and four videos of Archbishop Designate Justin.

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
We pray for Archbishop Designate Justin to embody every day of his life, and even for evermore the fulfillment of the following prayer from the Sarum Primer of 1558:
God be in my head, and in my understanding;
God be in mine eyes, and in my looking;
God be in my mouth, and in my speaking;
God be in my heart, and in my thinking;
God be at mine end, and at my departing.
