NEWS:

THANK YOU:

Thank you, everyone, for making our Advent and Christmas activities, and indeed all of 2011, such a wonderful experience of sharing God’s awesome love together!

January 7:

This Saturday, January 7, at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 7, at St. Paul’s, it will be our great privilege to celebrate the life of our dear brother, Len Mountford. If you would like to help with food preparation, set-up, or clean-up, please contact Robbie or Doreen via the Office (403-256-1428).

January 8:

At our 8:30 and 10:00 Services on January 8, we shall be celebrating the Baptism of the Lord.

At our 10:00 Service, it will be our joyous honour to Baptize Riley Gosse.

January 22:

Our first “Triple C” Service: In 2012, look for 10:00 a.m. Services on the fourth Sundays of the month that are Christ-centred, Creative, and Compact! Please come and “check out” this different experience of worship at St. Paul’s. PLEASE NOTE: Sunday School will be available for our pre-Junior High-aged members.

The Services this day will especially remember the Week of Prayer for Christian Unity, which takes place from January 18 to 25.

January 29:

Everyone is invited to our Annual Meeting of Parishioners (AGM) at 11:30 a.m. on January 29. Your input is invaluable as we reflect on the year that is past, and seek the Lord’s guidance for the year that is to come. Lunch will be provided. There are openings in the following Parish Council (Vestry) positions: Community Connection, Hospitality, Outreach, and Youth. Please pray that these positions will be filled as Our Lord sees fit (and be open to possible nudging from him to be part of the answer to this prayer!).

PRAYERS:

This part of the blog is for new prayers or prayer-emphases this week. The complete Prayer List is included on the back cover of the weekly Order of Service. If you are unable to attend on a Sunday, and would like to have these prayers emailed to you, please email Laura Anne at office@stpaulscalgary.ca).

Especially, this next 2 weeks:

We give thanks for the birth on January 3 of Makayla Breu, and the Holy Baptism on January 8 of Riley Gosse.

We also give thanks for the improving health of Pat Cardwell, Lynda Mountford, Louise Mullaney, and Marlene Wright.

We pray for Our Lord’s healing touch upon Pat Cardwell, Wes Hollings, Jean (my mother’s friend), Kelly and her baby, Dennis Moore, Lynda Mountford, Louise Mullaney, Wayne Ponting, and Derek Wood.

We commit into Our Lord’s eternal keeping Eric and Joyce Brenton’s cousin; Elizabeth Clark (Stephanie Evans’ sister); Daphne ffolliot (Margaret Anne Knowles’ aunt); and Elton Hellyer. Rest eternal grant to these, your beloved children, O Lord, and let light perpetual shine upon them. Amen. We pray for comfort for Eric and Joyce; Stephanie and Simon; Margaret Anne, Norman, Daniel, and Dilys; Bill, Becky, and Ian; and all the members of their families in their grief.

We lift up the people who are suffering in our own city, our country, and all the world. We pray for the light of Jesus to shine wherever there is darkness.

We pray for healing for all who are suffering the ravages of violence in Africa and the Middle East, particularly the people of Egypt and Syria as they seek a future of hope, peace, joy, and love.

We pray for your peace to reign supreme in the concerns about the nuclear aspirations of Iran, the transition in North Korea, and the renewed dialogue between Israel and Palestine.

We pray for wisdom and courage to act for the leaders of Europe, and all the countries of the world as they seek to help facilitate global economic recovery.

God bless you all, always.

Your Brother in Jesus,
